Hi Guys, our golf league will start Wednesday April 30th. Please have at least your first installment for our league fees. 100.00 is due and is to be paid to our illustrious treasurer Walt no later than April 25th. Below is a breakdown for your costs for the league. Total cost for the season is $470.00 per golfer, same as last year subject to change at our meeting on March 26th. $100.00 due by April 30th, $100.00 due by June 4th, $100.00 due by July 9th and $170.00 due by August 15th. Walt does not request a fee for all his hard work, don't hesitate to pay ahead but please pay on time. Golf and Cart each week costs $17.50, if you want to walk the course you are welcome to but the costs is still $17.50. LEAGUE RULES
We play golf, so our rules are designed to adhere to USGA rules, the following adhere to the USGA rules but are changes from our league rules from last year, also I will add to this as the year progresses if there is a question as to what the USGA rule is for a particular incident. Please keep in mind we have the best league in the county and our main goal is to play the game of golf the way it was meant to be played but more important than that we have fun!
Please keep in mind we use a 90% handicap system so if everyone is on the same page no one gets hurt. Here's the rule changes as I interpreted them at our league meeting, please bare in mind that every 2 minutes I had a martini in front of me so if you see something that doesn't look right or you disagree with please let me know at E-mail dennis@northernlighting.com 1. The league will consists of 20 regular members, no substitutions 2. A preseason meeting will be held each year to elect a new committee for the upcoming season, the committee will consists of a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Board Member at Large. 2a. The duties of the committee include reviewing the rules for the upcoming season and any changes voted on by the members: 2b. Choose time and place for year end banquet 2c. Collect the dues for golf and year end outing 2d. Coordinate and interpret rules during the season 2e.. Secretary to record minutes for all meetings, record and post scores and standings each week. Post events winners and keep a running log. 3. New members will be voted on at our preseason meeting. 4. Our league plays at Bristol Oaks CC, first tee time are 4:02- 4:34 each Wednesday starting on April 30th. 20 weeks will be played. We alternate from the front to back nine each week. 5. League play will be individual stroke play with foursomes designated by the schedule. All matches are played using a 90% handicap system. All fractions will be rounded to the nearest whole number. Averages will be based on a five week average after the 6th week. Last years average will be used to start the season. New players will start with an average determined by the committee. 6. The weekly events pool is 6.00 per member and is mandatory this was approved at our pre season meeting. 7. League champion will be determined by the following point system, the player with the most points will be our league champion. 7a .3 points for winning your match 7b. 2 points if you tie your match 7c. 1 point if you loose your match but tie or better your average 7d. 0 points if you loose your match and score less than your average 8. Rounds played without an opponent will count towards your handicap and average. Your score will be posted in the results and you will be eligible for all money events, a partner will be drawn for you to compete in partners. 9. All players are required to report to the course at the scheduled tee times regardless of weather conditions unless contacted by the President. The decision to cancel a golf night is determined by all members at the course. 10. In the event a member does not play on his scheduled night, he will be given "0" points, unless he contacts his opponent and they play a match prior to their scheduled date. Those scores will count towards points for both players, handicaps and average for the player that is not going to play his scheduled night. If your opponent cannot join you to make up then contact a committee members and arrangements will be made for you. If you play your scheduled night without an opponent then you must tie or better your average to receive 3 points otherwise you will be awarded 2 points. 11. Year end outing pairing will be determined by the committee and all handicaps will be doubled for this glorious 18 hole event. 12. League fees will be 470.00 per golfer , non refundable, includes cart. Payments must be made on or before dates indicated on our schedule. 13. A member may request a leave of absence for a maximum of 2 years and return as a regular member by the pre season meeting. 14. If a member scores a hole in one all members will contribute 10.00 each so the member scoring the hole in one has the funds to get hammered!!! 15. Play the ball as it lies 16. Balls hit out of bounds will result in one penalty stroke and can be dropped anywhere along line of flight, but no closer to the hole. 17. All putts have to be holed out no gimmees. 18. Sand, play it as it lies unless your ball is in standing water then you can clean and place in the trap, if you are in a foot print be irritated with the idiot that didn't rake the trap 19. Balls hit in shrubs or bushes must be played by USGA rules. 20. Water hazard you can go back line of flight as far you care to. 21. Lift, clean and place will be observed when conditions of the course deem it necessary, the rules committee will inform all members prior to starting the round if that decision is made. 22. Prize money will be awarded to each member at the final outing amount to be determined by the league officers. Only league members are eligible for prize money. 23. A player gets 2-club lengths of relief from new trees, these are designated with mulch around the bottom and a ribbon on the tree. If you think it is a new tree it probably is but be sure to discuss this with your partner.
24. In the event no one
wins a skin, the skin purse will be double the following week. any members who
were not in attendance the week no skin was won may participate for the double
skin pot by paying an additional dollar prior to the round being played. you
will only be allowed to get the double skin money if you let the event
chairman (tom k) know prior to the round starting.
25. In the event no
one wins closest to the pin on a given night, the event will be double the
next time that hole will
be played (2 weeks), the same
rule will be used as far as who can collect double as we stated above for the
skins event.
